Regulations for Youth Southern Centre Motocross Championship 2008

 

 

These rules are to be read in conjunction with the current general competition rules of MCI and the corresponding 2008 MCI standing regulations for youth motocross.

 

1.                  The championship will be open to all MCI and MRA youth licence holders.

 

2.                  Entry forms and supplementary regulations will be available at preceding events or to download from www.motorcylcing-ireland.com and www.motocross.ie

 

3.                  These will be the six classes and each will have a seperate race:

125 & 144/250F riders must sign on in the class they intend to race in and will not be permitted to change classes on the same day.

First practice is scheduled to be at 10 am.

 

4.                  Numbers will be as competition licence. In the 125 2 stroke class, blue backgrounds must be used.  If there are duplicate numbers with a non Southern Centre rider, the Southern Centre rider will have preference.

 

5.                  There will be six rounds of the championship. If a round is cancelled there will be no replacement round held. There will be three motos per round. All motos ran count towards the championship points total.

Championship points will not come into effect until approved by championship registrar and published on Motorcycling- Ireland website. Final results verified at  the MCI AGM in November 2008.

6.                  Gate position selection will be by fastest lap in timed practice, if this is unavailable a lottery selection will apply.

7.                  Race starts will be by mechanical gate with a 15 second / 5 second board being used. The gate can drop any where between 5 and 0 seconds on display of this board.

8.                  Transponders are required for each race. In the event of failure of the transponder system manual lap scoring may be used. Transponders may not be available to hire on the day so each competitor is advised to purchase his/her own unit. It is only the rider’s responsibility to ensure his/her transponder is working and attached securely to the bike throughout the race.

 

9.                  Awards will be presented at the end of each race day and are as follows:

1st – 5th place                           Trophies

6th – 10th place                         Medal

 

10.              Final championship positions will be awarded to fifth place at a prize giving ceremony at the end of the year.

11.              Every machine intended to race on the day must be presented for eligibility, scrutiny, and each club reserves the right to examine any machine at anytime during the day up until 30 minutes after the last race. Oversize bikes will result in the rider’s exclusion from the championship together with other MCI penalties. Bikes, which are unavailable for measurement for any reason, will be automatically deemed to be oversize.  The MCI MX technical measurer will have the final decision on all measurement issues.

Special attention will be given to the automatic class where all bikes must be stock as per standing regulations.

 

12.              This is a family sport and everyone has a responsibility to ensure that each child can compete in a safe and sporting environment. Anti-social behaviour by riders or guardians cannot be tolerated.

Special attention will be given to abuse of alcohol, fighting, and noise after 11pm(ie Generators) and any excess pressure on children to compete. Please read and follow the children’s code of conduct manual.

 

13.              Each organising club will ensure that the racetrack is as safe as possible with proper flagging, watering and track maintenance facilities available.

Medical cover with at least two independent teams of emergency personnel will be at trackside for the duration of racing. Racing can continue if one team is called away temporarily.

 

14.              Each rider must supply one person available as a flag person for a half a race day.

 

15.       Neck protection is mandatory for MCI licensed riders at all Youth Motocross events.
