MOTOR CYCLE UNION of IRELAND (ULSTER
CENTRE) Ltd
Press release MCUI UC Tarmac Committee ref.251111
The MCUI (UC)
Tarmac committee will introduce a Control tyre for all Ulster Centre Short
Circuit “Superbike and Clubman” Championship events in 2012 & 2013.
We have secured
a 2 year deal with PIRELLI Moto for a control tyre championship with the main
objective to have the tyre prices fixed at a competitive “price” for a full
season to the competitors. With the world’s financial situation and inflation
increases on all oil products etc around the world, it is important to ensure
the competitors tyres do not increase in price during next season. This may not
suit some competitors but this is a deal so that ALL competitors can afford new
competitive rubber to race and not be disadvantaged against others bringing
riding, machine set up skills more to the fore and closer racing. Control tyre
championships have a proven record at World and British Championship level with
PIRELLI and brings closer racing to the events.
The deal includes supply,
fitting of tyres. Environmental issues such as the removal of waste rubber from
circuits.
Official test
day in February where all competitors will be able to register for their Championship
Classes, get advice on suspension set up and tyre information. The tyres will
be supplied and fitted by two current local paddock service providers appointed
by Pirelli at £210 +vat per set.
All machines (road race & Circuit) must be
sound tested before 2012 season begins and the readings recorded for comparison
checks throughout the year at all events, this will be carried out at this test
day.
There will be
a seven round “SUPERBIKE CHAMPIONSHIP” at Kirkistown & Bishopscourt venues,
from April to October with at least one event per month. There will be a six
round “CLUBMAN CHAMPIONSHIP “ at Bishopscourt, Kirkistown and Nutts Corner,
from March to September with at least one round per month.
There is a promotional
package included in the deal for SUPERBIKE events and a prize fund package, this
should ensure that Ulster Centre short circuit entry fees will remain as 2011.
Plans for road show type promotional events around the country will be
discussed with competitors interested in promoting themselves and sponsors. Pirelli Moto’s PR agency will assist in promotion with
competition prizes etc via the mainstream media.
Race classes under a
control tyre championship are;
